Hi everyone,
I just registered with the forum. I am starting a small business in about two months, and was looking at phone systems on ebay. I saw an Iwatsu that I would like to bid on. I Googled installers in my area but could not find any.
My question is, can anyone help me with an installer in my area (Fredonia, NY) ? Secondly, can you give me an idea (range) of what I should expect to pay for the installation ? I anticipate having 4 phone lines with 8 extensions.
Thank you very much.
Osas

OSAS2000 welcome to the board.

You can try the installer’s link at the top of this page for an installer.

I have to strongly suggest you do not by your system off of E-bay. Find a good installer and have the system purchased and installed by them. With an e-bay system you have no support and no warranty, you may find someone to install it for you, but if it burns out in a month do not expect them to replace it, or support it. Remember your phones are the life line of your business it is not a good place to try and skimp.

Best of luck with your new business.

welcome OSAS2000 !

Anthony is right.
You might as well buy your customer service, equipment warranty, system training, and overall satisfaction from ebay while you're at it! wink

By the way, what kind of service is your business going to provide? Is it something we can we get cheaper from ebay? laugh

Bobby has plenty of personality and a good sense of humor. He was trying to get you to see a point that we encounter often in this business.

Most businesses need their phones more than any other type of office equipment, tho they often do not realize it. A lot of companies will keep their computers, copiers, faxes, desks, etc... up to date with the latest and greatest but will not update their phone system until it literally doesn't work any more.

What happens when the copier doesn't work? It's a pain but you can work without it for a couple of days. What happens when your phones don't work for two days? You loose a lot of business.

If you purchase a system from a reputable local interconnect, they will warranty your system, give you training and be a partner in the future. If your system has a problem, they will have a replacement available. Your down time will be short.

If your Ebay system goes down, who are you going to call? If they did give you a warranty, you'll have to remove the unit, package it and ship it back. If it gets repaired, you'll have it back in a few weeks.

Now as for your original question, expect to pay for about 6 hours of a techs time to set this up, if you don't need any cabling. We don't give out prices but an telephone techs hourly rate would be in the neighborhood of other professionals in your area. (IT professionals, plumbers (well a little more), etc....)

No reason to run off in a huff. smile
This hasn't been said yet and I think it needs to be in your equation. If you purchase equipment from eBay and I'm not saying it's good or bad as far as the equipment goes, but if you do expect to pay for any incurring costs for anything thats going to take place with-in the next few years...it's called T/M time and material...when you get one from a dealer or local installer a lot of that stuff is going to be included, for a certain period of time. In other words you can pay the installer/local vendor now or expect to pay em later. Hope that helps.
Now about eBay
Beware of eBay...a lot of people sell junk and some don't, and it very hard to tell, you can usually tell by the price, either they don't know what their selling (which is scary) or it's hot (stolen) or it someones junk or it could be a good deal...but as I mentioned if you do remember to add the price of installation, repairs and maintenance for a couple of years and use that price to compare to a local bid for a local installer. wink
Good luck on what ever you do. smile
