What type of connection do I need from my PBX to my PC to pull SMDR records?
We're in the process of getting a new system, but the boss wants call accounting back now...I've found a little free software package (Call Accounting Mate), but I don't know how to connect the PC to the system for SMDR. Is a special card required? If it is a DB-9 to RJ45 (as I suspect it is) which end goes where?

You'll need a card with a serial port. Usually, an EDVIF card or an SFIC card is installed and programmed for SMDR output. Each of these cards provides an 8P8C jack for connections. There's a lot of configuration programming involved, stuff that's best left to experienced techs, so your best bet is to contact your dealer. Try the link at the top of the page, or if there's no luck there, try this link
Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.
