I question about operator terminal setup.
I have the "offical Executone" monitor connected via the aux connection. This is connected to my patch panel using the provided db25 plug with the RJ connector using standard cat 5 and from the patch panel to a punched down "dongle" hanging off of the mdf on port 1 using cat5 again.
I have the "base" connected to ext 3003.
From the operator programming screen: I have identified Operator A Extension 3003 Port 1 Integrated CRT Y ....RLS No Auto Ans N.
From the B screen Port 1 is Installed Y
Speed 9600 Protocol = X_ON Computer Port N Type 000.
Two problems exist:
1) I can't seem to answer any calls coming in. I am hitting the RLS key and all others on the keyboard but nothing seem to happen. The Monitor appears to be receiving inputs from the kbd since I can hit help and perform the setups etc.

2)It appears that the only screen available is the status screen. It appears to be working as I can see calls coming in and I can see all of the extensions and names. I have tried to get to the system programming features but I can't seem to get anything. It may have to do with the kbd monitor issue listed above. Don't know.

The connector for the aux connection appears to be using pins 2,3,7. Don't know if this has anything to do with it or not.

Any thoughts.
Sorry for the rambling but I wanted to provide as much info as I could.

Ports is a RS232 port you realize?
Is the terminal setup to accept data from the aux port in its setup screen?

How are you trying to access programming?

Do you hit control P?

If all else fails, use a BFH.

Roger the RS232.
The terminal seems to be in a display only mode. No matter which keys I hit, other than the help and ctrl-setup(icm), and the function keys all others seem to be non-functional.

I've tried but as I posted to pvj, the terminal doesn't appear to accept key strokes.
I'll check the settings on the terminal again.

I have found that the newer model monitors (they are almost white)require a newer keyboard (also almost white) in order to work.

I believe it is an older monitor but in any case I have the kbd that came with it. It supposedly worked when it was pulled.
How do you know if it is a newer or older monitor?

I'm starting to think that I must be missing some wires in the dongle to the mdf connection. It looks like only three wires are connected: W/B, B/W and O/W.

As per the manual
RS 232 Connections

MDF pins MDF Db-25 CRT
1 ............2............3
2.............3............2
3.............5............n/c
4.............6............n/c
5.............7.............7
6............ 20............6

Did you check the terminal setup to make sure its set to receive data on the aux port?

This is for wiring the terminal to the MDF panel.I really think you may only need 2,3, and 7 but then you probably shouldn't have any protocol setup on the data port settings.

I was just looking at the page that outlines the pin outs. I think this may be why it appears to display only.

I verified that data/printer = aux/modem.
So I think it is right.
