I reprogrammed and Iwatsu on the 25th that had defaulted back to nothing after a power outage. All worked fine before I left. MSG #, vmail key, transferring. Today I get a call from the client that the MSG # just gives busy signal as does the vmail key. Also, when they transfer calls to an extension hoping to send someone to voicemail and the person is on their extension, the caller gets a busy signal not the mailbox. If they user is NOT on the phone, I think voicemail is OK. What might have gone wrong over night? Might a reset help? The user was afraid to do the reset and the client is 2.5 hours drive. Please Help.

If everything was definately working fine before you left, a reset is worth a shot. But if they have had another power outage...and the CPU battery is bad. They are defaulted again. Which means no voicemail. Did you check or replace the CPU battery?

Yes, The battery is on order. but they needed the system reprogrammed and the tech company that handed it off to me didn't completely fill me in before I got there and found what was wrong. The girl there was afraid to do the reset. They are 2.5 hours away. They have an in house IT guy that would probably be willing to do the reset but he was out this week. I may have to return.

If you're getting a busy signal when trying to retrieve voice mail, you probably have a spurious message waiting light. Try accessing the voice mail group, pressing # and entering the mail box that way. Chances are better than even that there are no messages in the mailbox.
At one of the phones this is happening to, with the handset in the cradle, press FEAT, #, 8 and the voice mail key. This will turn off the light. Now, send a message to the mailbox at that extension, allowing the system a few minutes to light the light again. If you can now retrieve the message, you're probably in good shape. If not, you may be looking at a complete system programming.
Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will contact them in the morning monday and try the suggestions. they insisted they had no other power failure. I think I left out that if they call the phone number that they have designated their back door number they can get their messages. It is only when doing the msg key # or VMAIL key that they get busy. Also, the issue of transferring a call to someone who is on the phone they get a busy signal but when the person is not on phone it is OK. The voicemail ports are 217 to 220. they can type those extensions in and get to voicemail as well but then they get confused because if they hit 217 on one phone it won't work on the next Etc. They don't understand that if they hit 217 in opened that port but until they disconnect it wont work and they then move to the next port.
