Lets say you call a co line. That line is the main line. Now another person calls that same number. They get a busy signal. Now if the number is not a rollover number, and a customer has other lines in the system that number will stay busy. Am I correct?

My question is why isn't that customers CO lines in a rotary hunt group ?? Is this a lack of configuration and consultation on the servicing vendor's part ?? [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

Yes on the lack of consultation, but our sales guy thinks that the switch can make the lines rollover.

Gotta love them sales guys.

Only trained techs who have actually done the work should be allowed to sell telephone systems. I go on a sales call in a pair shorts and a Harley T shirt and make those 3 piece suits look stupid on a regular basis. But I'm not selling 50,000 dollar systems, if I was, I would wear jeans. That's right up there with customers who call in complaining that when all of their lines are busy voice mail doesn't pickup. Kinda makes you go hmmmmmmm.

Man I've been there with a local Bank CEO, I even got out my white board and drew him a picture and he still didn't get it. I ended up getting two more lines for his private number to roll too and have the VM answer and put them into his mailbox. He's still clueless.

...must be something with bankers. I had to do that twice at the same bank. Two different people's private lines are pilots to their own private three-line hunt groups. Lines two and three go straight to voicemail, because they said there would be no reason why it shouldn't: if a call comes in to line two or three, it's because they are already on line one.

I can understand the customers not understanding things (we should be happy they don't) but anyone selling this stuff should know that hunting comes from telco. Kinda scary isn't it.
