Hi

I'm new to this....

We have Executon System 84 (vers: 42/84 8)
and a VMS box imprinted with Infostar/DVX

I installed a new user as
Dial 436 # 5000 password 3
3: Delete old mailbox: 3037
2: Make new mailbox : 3037
#
Class 100 Type 1
O dest: 3001 Extension 1
#
Spell Name

The system verifies all is well.
The user sets up his system.

Then when a message arrives, it is saved but
no message indicator light flashes.

We had a user in another office with the system working fine for years, he transfered and the user with a problem moved into his office. I did the same thing and now the light does not work in that office!

I've reset the message using
Dial 436 # 5000 password 3
9: Reset Message Indicators

Suggestions?

Are there ' any ' new messages sitting in that box?

If so, try this, delete all messages, and try again, also did you set up the G screen on the left hand side of the screen to tell the ext it has a Voicemail Box?

Are your extensions and mailboxs 4 didget?

you say you enter mailbox number, but did you enter extension number to match.

Delet mailbox and recreate.
It should be mailbox#,
Extension #,
Class of service,100
dial mailbox type, 1
dial zero destination, # to skip
dial department group, # to skip
Spell subscribers name, # to skip
press # to process.

write down password

Good Luck!!

In fact I had not put in the Mailbox Number. It now acts different (not better, just different).

As to the G screen this is what is shows for the two lines
A:
3004 3004 # N VMS N ___ N ___ Y VMS Y VMS N ___ 03s 03s
B:
3037 3037 # Y VMS N VMS N VMS Y VMS Y VMS N VMS 03s 03s

On line B, I recreated the mailbox using
3037 and extension 3037. Now when I dial 436... 3037, I hear 'please hold' and get the dial tone!

On line A, I have not recreated the mailbox and I can dial 3004 and I get mailbox 3004.

Couple questions
If I want to clear VMS how do I do that?
Is an entry with no VMS (N ___) the same as (N VMS)?

Is the G screen setup OK?

Thanks for your help.

Maybe it's vastly different in the System 84 from the 648-- but in the Keys for the telephone, is a key programmed with code 830, and the subcode matching the extension (if the subcode is allowed to be entered?)

Could it be possible that the extension changed but the subcode on the VMS key is for the old station number?

1. Be sure there is an extension number in the mailbox.
2. Check the Status screen for that mailbox for the MWI number.
3. No subscript is needed if mailbox and extension numbers match.

Back from vacation.

First thing I hear is from the phone that would not blink when messages waiting: "Thanks for fixing that problem"

Apparently it just needed time to reset itself. I did nothing and now it is working. I may have to revisit this problem in the future but for now it is working.

Thanks for your help.
