Okay, thanks p2ii
So the SIP trunks are all at the hosted/data center interface and the actual call processing machine IS on site all the time... now does that machine interface with PRI, POTS, etc., locally - as a back-up?
Sorry for so many questions, just wasn't clear enough on their site and I'm very interested in the products capabilities/reliability. I sent an information request on their site the same day I posted this and haven't heard back yet.
Thanks again everyone!

Thanks again everyone! It can connect to backup trunks in case of an outage.

Time to dig up this old thread, as my employers decided to become a Star2Star dealer. I was finally able to sit in on a training and now understand i how it works... and it is definitely unique. I really like the flexibility of the automated attendant, the disaster recovery plans and the find me, follow me integration. Overall it seems like a very logically thought out system, from the ground up.
I am still looking for a few answers here and there, as I had to leave the training to go on a service call.
Dos anyone know what, if any HIPAA compliance they have? We have customers in the medical industry wondering.

I am not 100%, but I believe it is re-packaged Asterisk. They are based out of Tampa if I am not mistaken, we looked into them a few years ago but passed.
