We have a model 64 phone that goes crazy sometimes, cutting out in the middle of a call, for example, especially if one of the programmable keys is pressed. The cord and jack are fine. The phone resets or just gets completely stuck. Is this a common sympton of a particular problem, and if so how can this be fixed?

Also, if a 64 is replaced with a 32 or 18, do all of the programmable keys keep the same functions? How can the various features normally on the function keys and display be accessed in the 18 and 32?

Thanks.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the Medley's only setup to work with the M64 not the M32 or M18 sets.
Have you tried switching the phone with another to see if the problem follows the phone or stays on the port?

If you use any other phone you loose the soft keys, which control alot of the features of the phone. A M32 will work, but limited opertion.

Good Luck!!

Is there any way to program any of the softkey features onto the programmable keys? (Redial and mute are really the only ones we use.) Can the VM (voice mail) key be reprogrammed for one of these since it is never used on certain "public" (i.e. non-desk, wall-mounted) extensions?

Also, can programming at a given extension be done with a 64, then have all of the settings (including programmable keys in the proper location) work on a 32 or 18? (And if a 12 is used, does it just ignore the last column of buttons, or rearrange them somehow?)

Thanks again.

The problem you note with the M64 is not uncommon and it can be repaired by almost any reputable repair company. This is not something that you should attempt to do yourself. You can put a M32 or M18 onto the Medley, but I would not recommend it as you lose a lot of features. The Medley is configured for using only M64 phones and that is what is going to work best for you.

No, because you need the soft keys in order to start a session of key programming.
