I have an IDS 432 system that currently has three T-1 circuits in the first cabinet. I am now adding two additional T-1 circuits and placing them in the second cabinet. The IDS Technical Manual says:

When installed in a 432 or 648, at least one T1 port card must be installed in the first cabinet. DO NOT connect a receive clock recovery cable to a T1 port card in the second cabinet.

Does this mean that in the second cabinet I should only leave out the clock cable between the EVCM and the first T-1 while still using the clock cable between the two T-1 cards? Or should I leave all clock cables out of the second cabinet?

Even with a pri. No clock cable is required if in 2nd or 3rd cabinet

I just finished working on a 432 that had two cabinets, connected by fibe across the street from each other. A good 400 feet. Each cabinet had a t-1 in them. The first t-1 was for outside phone calls. The other t-1 was to connect to a Cisco ip phone system that the customer was slowly replacing the executone sytem with. The first cabinet t-1 had the clock cable to the evcm card. No clock cable was used on the second cabinet.

The customer moved the outside phone call t-1 to the Cisco ip phone system. Leaving the second cabinet t-1 as the source for the clocking. I removed the first cabinet t-1 from the system. Moved the clock cable to the second cabinet t-1 cabinet. I then went into the ctl c, m screen, and change the clocking source to the second cabinet.

Everything turned out fine. No slips or errors on the system.

If you are putting a pri in the system, it is recommended to have the pri as the clocking source. You may end up with clocking source timing between the circuits. If they are from the same provider, it makes it easier to call for help, if problems arise.
