I'm getting a rare find, a never used WE302, and want to install the Rotatone in it, but can't figure it out.. https://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2336.0;attach=11584 302 Instructions For example, I don't understand how the polarity guard is to be installed, nor the Zener diode. I can't read schematics well if at all, and I wish it was clear cut (like, green wire to so and so).

If you plan on messing around with this stuff spend a little time and how to read schmatics once you get a basic understanding it will make some sense

I just want to install the rotatone, don't really care how to read schematics, as I very rarely need to use them (I don't have a job doing repair anymore so I let the knowledge slip).
But I need this phone up and running once I get it, same day, and would just like to cheat this one time.

polarity guard is a basically a full wave rectifier, and the zener diode works as a voltage regulator / protector. If you need help PM me.

Something seems wrong with the wiring in this phone.. The phone does work though. https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v395/Evilweredragon/_IGP5379.jpg The diode on the jumper block I put there, in prep for the rotatone, but never got around to it. The jumper block in all 302 pics I see use ALL three of the terminals, but this one only used one. Also, it almost appears like L1 and L2 are reversed on the coil. Green should be on L2, but red is. Red is supposed to be on L1, but green is. Um, massive re-wiring in order? This is a refurbished phone too, from the people who make the rotatone.

Does it work? (YES) Walk quietly away.
Surely you've seen that flow chart. How about someone that has a copy create a link or post it here.

I like everything being wired correctly, including polarity. I hate hack jobs where it works only JUST. I put 100% in.

Actually, L2 should be the ring, or red and L1 should be the tip, or green. This has been the norm on standard telephone sets for years. Tip is positive and ring is negative with reference to ground. Hey, if it is working, the FWB is doing what it is supposed to do.
Like others have said, just leave well-enough alone.
