Customer collecting bad Call boxes from 2 remote elevators. This is at a Casino that has a long catwalk to a distant parking lot. I believe he needs lightning surge protection because of the high failure rate, but meanwhile, he has about 5 Janus ADA Pbx call boxes (no model number on units) that have a variety of issues. They're pretty pricy so we're looking to repair them. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

You may have more than surges to worry about. Is the cable to the parking lot within the maximum distance specs of the call boxes? Is it properly grounded?

Didn't see distance requirements in installation manual, did note it requiring shielded cable grounded on one end only though. Saw that it wasn't grounded in control panel, didn't measure it either, so I don't know if it was grounded at the junction (cable in control panel didn't match cable in MDF). I'll ask customer to measure ground and try to contact manufacturer about distance. Thanks
Did recommend the MLP 270M surge protection (about halfway down the page)

If it was built after 1980 don't expect it to work right.
