Yes, that is inside wiring maintenance. Honestly I am not sure why they decided to pay for it. I have more knowledge available to me on this board than any tech coming to my house smile

I'm just glad it isn't me who has to sit at home all day and wait for them. Plus the tech would probably get annoyed with me asking him a million questions smile

Well, at&t came out and the problem was that one of the wires feeding the RJ31X for the alarm came loose. Of course, their work order didn't say anything about no dialtone in the house, which is why they didn't come until today.

Jeff, glad it was something simple. I would like to throw out something I had never heard of until recently. My mother-in-law's phones went dead. We tried the usual things then called the phone co, which was Verizon. They asked if she had a cordless phone and to check the battery. Sure enough, that was the problem. I could not understand how a bad battery in a phone would make EVERYTHING dead.

i had that same problem once witha cordless, when you would hit the talk button it sounded weak and so did the dialtone for a sec then dead air, the only thing i could think was maybe the battery was so dead it wasnt going back on hook ( electronically speaking ). so now i have -get this- one hard wired rotary phone in my home for the home line, thats it, no caller id nothing. cut the home service back to unlimited incoming but 60 calls per month outgoing w/no long distance carrier. 15 bucks a month. unfortunately you cant beat the unlimited long distance cell phones offer. the old bells drive my jack russel nuts!!!
