Hey guys, I have yet to be able to backup an IDS 228 or an Eclipse 2.5. I try using Procomm thru the serial port, but when it says ready to send, I activate procomm to recieve as xmodem and it aborts? Do I have to call in thru the modem or am I just not doing this right? Please help...I have full access and all passwords Thanks in advance

I don't use procomm I know JJ does but it sounds to me like you may have a setting wrong. Can you program ok through the port?Does it abort right away or part way through a backup?

telenutt, I use Procom all the time. After clicking on receive file, I recommend selecting the download file. Then enter a file name and hit return. There can be some speed problems with the IDS 228 CPU. I would backup the data base at 4800 or lower.

Do as END stated. I use 9600 baud, 4800 was only recommended when converting database for Y2K.
Good Luck!!
If all else fails, use a BFH.

Also when using Procomm, save the file straight to the hard drive.
also use the file ext " .pgm " for system
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

I had this issue many years ago - look in Procomm setup for "Abort Transfer if Carrier Detect signal lost" and make sure it's disabled. Good luck Mike

Slight correction to JJ's 4800 bps statement - you can download (back up the file to your PC) any software, Y2K or not, at 9600. But to upload (restore back into the system from your PC) to an ACPU, the recommended limit is 4800. This is because of a problem in communucations between the two processors on the ACPU. All of the file gets loaded via one of those processors, and it has to repeat part of the file to the other processor to get it written to the RAM that that processor handles. At 9600, this link sometimes gets bogged down and data is lost. Executone discovered this only after the ACPU's hardware's design was finalized, and never changed it. I've heard examples of being able to upload an ACPU at 9600, but it's a crapshoot. The problem doesn't exist in the 228 CPU or the ECPU.
