This is a new one to me, but might not be to others.

I was working at an industrial park today and the large building had six or so DMARC's. I went there to connect a line for a business that had moved from another location to this suite in the Bus. Park. I check the closest DMARC and all the others for this tagged number. I couldn't find it anywhere. Then I went through each binding post in the closest DMARC and ID'd all the numbers to be sure it wasn't there. It was not!

I had the customer call the Telco and they said they moved it (they obviously moved it to the wrong DMARC) but when the customer calls in the work order for the move, the customer has to request that the Telco come out on site to tag/ID the line. Oh and there is a $35.00 fee to do so.

The customer says "how was I suppose to know that"

Sounds to me like they flip the switch and hope all is good. :bang:

I just went through the same issue – 400 pairs into the building and nothing tagged. Two lines dead at the IDF; no clue where to look at the demarc.

Fortunately, the AT&T tech was helpful and tagged them for me. Dispatch said it would cost $60; he just did it. And where was the problem? Bad cable in an abandoned telco closet no one knew about!

I guess I got spoiled, but when I was in SWB (now AT&T) territory in MO and KS, if it wasn't labeled, or labeled incorrectly, complain and all lines and circuits for that customer got labeled/relabeled/confirmed, IF the line/circuit was, in fact, un/mis-identified. Even terminal hunt groups got the number AND terminal number done!

Yep, there is a HUGE difference between AT&T and at&t. Nothing even remotely close to each other.

Here in SO Cal I believe that the PUC requires ckts to be tagged @ no charge to customer when requested.

Up here ALL business lines require a site visit to verify functionality & usually the D-Mark is labeled.

"All business lines require a site visit"

That's the way it should be.

I believe it is an FCC requirement as part if the "install" to have the line properly tagged at the demark. Your Public Utilities Commission can shed light on that subject. They keep Century Link in my area in check. Telco's are getting lazy!!!
