I am on the board of our local track club. We pay almost $70.00 a month for a line to plug an answering machine into. There are no outgoing calls and 30-40 inbound calls a month. Would a DID work for us?? Can this DID be installed in the club house?? Thanks

DID, probably way more expensive. You'll have to rent a block of numbers, and normally the minimum number of lines is 4. Do you know what a DID is and what it's for? Maybe you're not telling us the whole story?

Or maybe he's using the "other" definition of DID as perpetuated by the New Voip Guys.

"Or maybe he's using the "other" definition of DID as perpetuated by the New Voip Guys." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ? DIL or DISA maybe? Or maybe just plain inbound hunt group? It would seem that it's a 'business' POTS line, possibly 'car-loaded' with all the bells and whistles (Forwarding, Conference Calling, Speed Dialing, Callback), which would explain the high cost.

All the DIDs I see here are come in on a PRI...you buy a block of numbers.

DID still requires a line, or lines, or a PRI to deliver the call and makes no sense anyway since you are only getting calls on one line ...there would be no reason to purchase a block of DID's on top of the number associated with your line.
You should be able to get a cable line with unlimited calling, voice mail etc for well under $50.
