Anyone have any sugestions for a Gate access control system. This is a swing gate with an auto gate opener. Currently the gate is opened via the phone system for remote control of it, but the front gate is just wired with a simple push button I am looking for a keypad with a normally open contact, when the code is entered it would go to normally closed to open and close the gate, I was also thinking of useing a magnatic lock system, SO It would need to disable the lock as well. I would want to be able to use two keypads on the system one would be at the front of the driveway before the gate, one at the end (it is about a 50' drieway). I am looking into Viking's products now, but I am open to suggestions

I've used the Corby stuff before, great choice IMHO. You will need separate keypads for that system and if I were the owner, I would want a prox tag so the gate opens automatically for me.
If you are looking for something a little cheaper, you could look at all-in-one stand alone keypads wired in parallel on the gate switch. These units have built in relays/latch timer, will normally accept a couple of user codes, RTE input for remote control units, and programmable NO/NC switching. A couple of good units I have used before; IEI or Rutherford Controls.

corby actually has a stand alone unit as well that I Think I am going to use. I was thinking baout a prox reader, I would need one with a decent range if I wanted it to open as they pulled up to the gate.

I do not know of a keypad with receiver built-in. There are inexpensive transmitter/receiver units available though. Here is one you can get from ADI: https://www.visonic.com/VisonicHomePage.nsf/webW12BDevTable?OpenView Their handheld units are like a garage door opener and available in more than one button. If your customer wants the same remote to operate the garage as well, install a second receiver on the door opener button. If they are using the built-in learning control in the car, buy an accessory lighting remote receiver from a garage door opener company and use that. Another option; Clifford car alarms used to make a remote accessory receiver that would learn the codes from factory keyfobs. I did a quick search but didn't find it. I'm sure someone still makes one similar. You can program this receiver to learn the signal from the "panic" or "horn" button on the cars keyfob. Most vehicles, when the ignition is on, pushing the panic button does nothing, so this could trigger the gate. I have one on my outdoor shop lights and it works great. The Clifford receiver has a programmable timer circuit built in and I have this firing a relay running the lights for a short duration.

Also, if this gate doesn't already have some safeties, you probably should install them. It should have a set of photobeams across the opening so that if they are blocked and someone pushes the button, the gate doesn't move. You could also program the same beams to close the gate once they have cleared and a short time later (delay on trigger). Some actuators also have a current sensing circuit that will reverse the operation if the load increases (closing on an object). Depending on the strength of this gate and the customer, you can also install a siren box. This is an interface box that will open the gate when police/fire/ems sound their siren. https://www.gate-opener.com/sos_sensor.html

The gate opener actually will reverse if its load increases though I am installing a set of photo beams as a secondary protection. The sos box Is a cool Idea but this is a busy street in t he city about 1/2 mile from a hospital and sirens go buy rather often, the gate would be open more the closed. I am interfacing the fire alarm system so if the fire alarm goes off it will open the gate.
Thanks for the ideas on the remote I will look into them. I also found a remote the will control up to four relays I may be able to make work. I will let you know how it turns out, I am hoping to get back their this week.

Along with the advice Twisted Pair has given you, check ADI's catalog if you haven't done so. They have a wide selection of this type of equipment. A word of caution, read ALL of the factory specs before deciding on anything. The reason I say this is because you can wind up spending a lot of money on "adapters" if the keypad you want does not have the feature "built-in". I have had good results with IEI keypads. Here is a link to the catalog. https://www.adilink.com/services/productCatalog.php Click on "Access". To make your job easier, I would call ADI systems and tell them exactly what you want the equipment to do and they will "custom build" a quote for you with all of the part numbers you will need and will email it to you in a pdf file.

Bobby, thanks for the tip, I actually have a winter cat. from ADI. I went with thy corby 6522 it had all the basic features I needed with the exception of the remote control. I spoke with a rep at croby and he advised me If I could find a normally open remote device I should be able to trip the RTE relay to open the gate, this will also allow me to open the garge door using the same remote (it has two relays). I found this device: https://www.hobbytron.com/ce-ck1617.html that looks like it may work. I am going to bench test this first and go from their. I figure even if it does not work i will be able to use all the componets somewhere. If this does not work I will contact ADI and have them put a system toegther for me
