I have a customer who doesn't want the expense of a central station monitored alarm, and just needs to monitor one pump at a remote location. He simply needs to know if the pump had failed to operate, and can provide me with either a NC or a NO contact, as needed.

Does anyone have a recommendation of an inexpensive alarm dialer that will dial one or two telephone numbers, and transmit a voice message?

How about this type:

dialer

Hope that helps!

A small town near here has two set up for their pumping stations.

They're not using any dialer. They have a line (actually a dry pair) from Bell bewteen the wells and the maintenance office for the town. The dry pair connects to a bell that'll ring when the contacts are made.

Look at the USP AD-2001 series dialers.
They are user friendly, keyboard programmed and available in 2 or 4 channel models. They all have multi number, paging and listen-in capabilities. We use them for industrial control process monitoring and have been satisfied!

Hope this helps...

I think you are going to need a small security system with a module for this.

I can't find it in my manuals at the moment but I seem to recall seeing some sort of pump monitor in the past.

You may want to call ADI (1800ademco1) for a solution. There may be something that will work without a security system that I'm not aware of.

I've installed two of the dialer's you ask about and had fairly decent luck with them but it is VERY important to test them and test them often!
The last one I installed lost the programming for some unknown reason.
For this reason alone I would recommend going with a security system and have it monitored.

With a security system the customer kills two birds with one stone.... securing the building and monitoring the pump.

Look at a Company called Phonetics Inc. They make a product that is called a Sensaphone Monitoring system. The one that I use on our cryo freezers is a model 400. Phonetics makes a system just for pump outer plant monitoring ect...

Thank you all for the replies. I was tending towards the AD 2001.

I suggested to the customer that they have a security and fire alarm panel with monitoring installed, but they declined.

So I will just hook up the dialer, get paid, and off I go.
