We are looking to replace an old switcher and VCR with a DVR here at the Student Union at UT. There are 8 cameras installed. I want to know what brands you guys might recommend. I've only worked with EverFocus and it was not the best experience. Thanks, Jeff

We have had good luck with the QDiViS units. We also buy their capture cards & software and build our own DVRs.

Usually I am using NuVico but sometimes by clients request Spico Technology. Didn't like Spico but lately they come up with very good product.

We have Pelco here. It was installed before I came on board, so I do not know the price points. We have the DX8100. One server handles up to 16 cameras.

Depending on your budget..Nuvico works well and is inexpensive, Speco has been putting out some nice stuff. Digimere is also Decent. If you want a bit higher end look at Honeywell or Dedicated Micros.

Anthony, In my opinion Dedicated Micro is not worth the money we are paying for it.

I can see your ponit Vad, I tend to only use it if it is requested by the customer. Most of my installs are mid level, 16 camera and under so the Nuvico and Speco stuff tend to fit the bill nicely. ADI has been pushing Samaung on me lately but I have yet to try it.

I would have to agree with the Honeywell. There hard to beat. Honeywell cameras aren't bad either.
We use Honeywell for our high end DVR and Telexper on the low side.
