I got a call to one of the local schools that has a bogen intercom system, installed before 1995. The bogen system is restricting outgoing calls. When was the change in the area codes that the second digit became 2 to 9? I think that is my problem. In Alberta we have to do 10 digit dialing, 780 *******. In Saskatchewan 10 digit is not necessary. When making a local call in Alberta the Bogen system restricts the call, when making a local call in Saskatchewan 7 or 10 digits the calls goes through. Saskatchewan area code 306 I hope that all this makes sense. The main question is does the older Bogen look at the area code to do the toll restriction? Thanks

Never heard of a Bogen intercom system that was a phone system. Got some numbers?

Probably something you need to ask Bogen tech support about. I see nothing in the manuals about dialing restrictions.

I doubt that "the Bogen" is restricting outside calls. Instead I'd rather believe that--because of a change in dial plan--"the Bogen" is probably receiving calls that aren't intended for it.

The Bogen will connect through a slt port on the phone system so your toll restriction is probably being done in telephone KSU.

Merritt is correct, the phone system controls the calls, Bogen passes it through.

It is connected to a Toshiba DK 40. All the ports on the toshiba are not restricted, clipped on the ports and make local calls, fine. The reorder tone is not a toshiba sound. I found something in the bogen programming. I am going to restrict the toshiba and take the restiction off the bogen. Thanks.

From the manual, available on-line:
"Outgoing calls can be made at any enhanced staff or administrative telephone, provided it has been programmed for access to this feature. Access can be restricted to making local calls, or unrestricted, permitting local and out-of-area calls. Outgoing calls are initiated by dialing a 2-digit access number (menu guided on the administrative telephone), and are assigned by means of a circular hunt, ensuring balanced use of the lines. If a line is available, the calling telephone receives an outside dial tone. If a line is not available (or if access is not allowed), the telephone receives a busy signal."
