OK, now that one I'd have to look up and it did matter. Ed many a tech found out those buzzers didn't work on ringing voltage, just clicked once. We had one dude that never could figure that out, they made him management. :rolleyes:

It was the capacitor on the network (terminals A and K) that had to be bypassed when using a diode matrix.

Bill, I agree with you about those high voltage buzzers. You had to mess with the center screw so much on them that the lid almost fell off in order to get enough vibration out of it. These things were always good for a callback after a week when the screw eventually wiggled itself out.

Ed it was the capacitor and you are right on about the buzzer screw .It did matter which way the Diode was pointed . I will make it easy to answer , was it white ring toward the Bell/Set or toward the 400 card ? :toast:

Tanning butter? That must be that SPF70 crap that my wife got me at the beach. I swear it was like spreading cream cheese on my skin. I got tired and chose to burn instead; it was less work.

Can't be. The arrow points to the band (the cathode) which is the direction of curent flow.

You are right, my bad on that one. I am aging.

The rule of thumb we used was that the direction of the arrow was what you wanted to ring at the station. The band "blocked" ringing from getting through.

In my defense, we used Western Electric diodes that were encased in metal housings; the band was a physical crimp at the end of the diode. Ray Charles could have figured out which end was which.
