Hi,

I have 2-3 6040-type keys (6040a and 6041a), which (to refresh memory) are used to connect 1A2 to single-line sets and provide the key features of the multibutton telephone.

I'd been interested for a while as to why the lamps wouldn't illuminate when I was using the single-line set connected to the key but they would illuminate if I picked up another key set.

There is a note in the BPS about station busy lamps and I hold circuitry. I believe this is the "key" to the lamp problem.

Assuming this is the problem, I have a couple of questions.

First, there is a reference to a KS-15724,L1 diode which has to be placed between the hold key and the EH terminal. Any ideas where I can get one of these?

Second, there is a reference to the "SP lead (I hold)". I have no idea what that is or where on the 636A key it is.

I've scanned a page from the Key Systems Service Manual and also a "zoom" of the Station Busy lamp and I Hold Circuit below:

Hopefully this hasn't been covered previously. At least, if it were, I haven't been able to find it in the archives.

Thanks,

Bill Bentsen

I love to answer my own questions! The problem isn't in the key -- it's in the SL set -- I have rewired the SL set for A lead control, and now everything works well. Even found about the station busy lamps and I hold circuitry as a side attraction. Seems it has to do with the supplementary hold button (which I remember for many years past -- the 'green' flutter hold).

Man, I love it when the result comes up on these threads! Even if the asker is the answerer! (And darn it, I knew the answer. Just too slow !) So many askers never tell us what the cure was. I chalk it up to poor upbringing, to be charitable. smile John C. (Not Garand)
