I'm using a VX2 voicemail box with an executone IDS 228 PBX and after a power outage our VX2 is only coming up with 4 lines available instead of the 8 normally assigned to it. I have tried restarting the vm box, and that didn't do it.
The ports that it is supposed to be picking up but aren't show up as being busy in the System Configuration screen of the PBX. I have tried resetting them and then restarting the VX2 but that didn't work either. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Check the Dongle (little key on the LPT port on the back) to see that it is properly seated. DO NOT REMOVE IT WHILE THE SYSTEM IS RUNNING!!!
If you reset the system using the proper steps, you should see a message come up on the screen after all of the dialog boxes appear at startup. It will say how many lines are installed, and how many are active in the software. This is a good place to begin.
If you need further assistance, please PM me with a telephone number where you can be reached, and I will do my best to help you get it running.
If you can read this, you're in range.

If your SLI ports are showing busy restarting the VX2 is just wasting your time unless the VX2 is what is tying up the ports. But that is pretty easy to tell, unplug those ports from the VX2 and see if they go back to idle. What does it show on the C screen if you call one of the busy ports?

Good call PVJ.
It looks like the 2nd modem card on the VX2 is tying up the lines. I switched the lines that were going into the VX2 and whichever were on the 2nd modem card would go busy. I'm going to try to swap the cards in the VX2 and see if it's a problem with either the pci slot or if it is actually a bad modem card.

Not a modem board but probably the diallogic card that is the problem.

the dialogic cards are also ' coded ' to the slot they are in, look for the dip switchs.
another thing to keep in mind, if you were using VMI for voicemail intergration, You Can't just swap exts around, they have to match port xxx to port xxx in voicemail.
another place to look, or even add the 4 exts that are not answering, the Main RUN screen on the voicemail, what are you running? for example '232' or 'IDS' , there were a few more, but, it's been a long time ago....maybe somebody else can jog my memory.

VM or PBX? I didn't see anything on the VM box. Are you talking about the options on the PBX?
my PBX options read: DCM3, VMS, CVM, VMI, ANI, 324, RLS, DLG

on the Voice-Mail , Main screen.
If You are using RS232 for your VMI, you will have a port usually port 1 or 2 programmed for the VMI, You will also have a cable hooked between the PBX and the Voicemail. (for the VMI)

So it appears that when I was restarting the VX2 it would busy out 4 of the 8 analog ports and when it came back up wouldn't install those ports because they were "busy".
So what I had to do was once I restarted the VX2 I reset the analog ports in the F screen of the PBX. I had to make sure they were reset before it got to the part where it shows how many ports are installed on the VX2.
