Hello All,

Does anyone know if mtx has a called id feature that way if an incoming calls is coming in to the trunks, it displays the number instead of trunk ?

forget about MTX, but the CTX needs an external CID module that feeds info into the system via RS232

Yes and no. The Protege CTX, MXT and LTX do not have built-in Caller ID. But instead use a third-party box. TCI (Tel Control Inc) in either the:
  • TC-1041 MLX-41 4 Line Caller Identification interface, or
  • TC-1082 MLX-82 8 line Caller Indentification Interface

You can daisy chain to accomodate the correct number of ports you need.

Just before "getting-out-of-the-business" Sprint made a 308 cabinet(expandible to 616) that did have built-in caller.

Here is a quick way to see which Sprint product you have by looking at the phones:

The word Protege is on the phone and 3 digit extensions are system is: CTX, MTX or LTX.

The word Protege is on the phone and 2 digit extensions are system is: either a Protege 308 (616) or Protege 32*.

*Protege 32 what the first Protege KSU that Sprint released it was the sucessor to the Sprint Premier line and the KSU's were identical. Sprint came out with the Sprint Protege 72 and later the Protege 48. this was great until they developed the double density cards and that blew the numbering sequence out the window. That was when they changed from numeric to alpha. So the:
  • Portege 32 became the CTX 616 (824)
  • Portege 48 became the MTX,
  • Protege 72 became the LTX.
  • and finally the two-digit extension 308 (616) KSU.

Too much information?

TCI (Tel Control Inc) is the manufacture of the product that Sprint Products Group recommended for Caller ID.

You can 'Google':

TC-1041 MLX-41 4 Line Caller Identification interface, or
TC-1082 MLX-82 8 line Caller Indentification Interface

Here is a link I found:

TCI Caller ID Boxes

I neither recommend nor discourage the above link, it is just an example.

As I posted earlier, you can add however many units you need to fit your CO Line requirement.

It is really easy to set up.
