The KC unit of Embarq formerly known as North Supply has announced it has been purchased by KGP Telecommunications of Minnisota. The following article explains in detail.

Bryan, this could be good for us that got cut off from NS back in the day.....now we may be able to once again access this supply house of real telephone materials.

Ken, what a great thought! I've always considered the North Supply close-off as "The Day the Competition Died". As in wholesale parts source competition. Heck, my Mitel 204/205 class was taught by a N/S tech (27 years ago!), but I was still certified as far as Mitel was concerned. If they didn't have it, nobody did. And if you screwed up a number, it was STILL 'something'. Messed up a number for a jack once, got 200 of the magnets that were part of the amphenol connection cover that was typically used to hold 1A2 phone amphenol junctions onto steel desks. As N/C said "Memories! North Supply = Premier Line of Inter-tel stuff. 6-wire phones. Ahhhh! My first tech class .... Still have three or four generations of the NS catalogs. Just can't seem to throw them away!

Oh sure... I'd too hope a lot of positive things come from this, for many in the industry. When the news of the CenturyTel Embarq merger was announced one of the positive things I was thinking was "good! We'll (my employer) will have a full supply house in the fold once it's all said and done." ... Now I'm thinkin' "geeeez, the sell-off has already started!"

Sprint North Supply was definitely a class act. I also keep a full compliment of their catalogs and still reference them regularly. They always danced circles around any service I received from any other supplier of any size. I've still managed to limp along since then by buying Premier products through Eltas, but the pricing isn't even close. I am truly hoping that they'll open their doors to the public again, although part of me wants to give them a sharp stick in the eye for abandoning their small customers three years ago.

The only problem I ever had with Sprint North Supply was their $100 minimum free freight policy.
I understood the free freight policy for orders above $100 but I never could understand why they just would not charge me the freight charges for smaller orders.

CSC has implemented large minimum order policies over the past few years..after buying Famous Telephone and then being bought up by Wesco.
