Wired : story here A new service set for launch Tuesday allows cellphone users to unmask the Caller ID on blocked incoming calls, obtaining the phone number, and in some cases the name and address, of the no-longer-anonymous caller. The service, called TrapCall , is offered by New Jersey's TelTech systems, the company behind the controversial SpoofCard Caller ID spoofing service. The new service is likely to be even more controversial  and popular. "What’s really interesting is that they’ve totally taken the privacy out of Caller ID," says former hacker Kevin Mitnick, who alpha-tested the service.

I get business on unlisted numbers all the time. I care about every call that comes in.
Thats why we are busy.

The point wasn't lost on me, Tony. And it was a surprise to hear from Mr. Mitnick, who I thought was permanently banned from partaking in any such testing.

Kevin's supervised period was over in 03 sometime. I have read two of his books, which are great books in their own right. His entire arrest/conviction/sentence was a landmark case and a great story to boot! I heard there was an indie movie in the works... but haven't heard about or looked into it recently. I understand everyone's point on answering business calls and not answering restricted/blocked calls. I however was aiming at the restricted calls which are telemarketing and malicious, etc.

Frankly I don't answer anything with an incoming id of a toll free number, and nothing from the 508 AC since that seem to be where all my telemarketers live. There is one company who calls every 6 months or so asking if I want to extend the warranty on my 85 Ramcharger.... :rofl:

Today was a record at my house for telemarketer calls: 39 in one day. Trust me, they call from all over the place using fake phone numbers. Do make sure to sign up for the do not call registry because once you take one of their calls, they multiply like rabbits overnight.
