More speculation here.

Talking with a respected colleague today about this, his thoughts were that we will probably see the BCM line re-branded as the "new IPO" - which he believes isnt as strong a product. I've never worked on an IPO, but am quite fluent with the BCM.

This is not a suprise. At the anual AVAYA Conference in Nashville there was much talk about Nortel. Yes AVAYA is going to migrate Nortel customers towards IPO and Partner Systems. This has begun already with Info mailings to Nortel customers. We have moved 2 of our Nortel customers , 1 IPO and 1 Partner at the customers request. They were worried about support on there Nortel products.

Avaya will not get rid of the CS1000. If they are smart they will use the best of the BCM and the best of the IP Office and market a new and improved IP Office or the Avaya BCM.

I don't know. The BCM may or may not be equal to the IPO. However with AVAYA in control the BCM may be fased out. The Nortel product line will be around for many years, like Inter-Tel. Exectone, Comdial and all the others that have come and gone.

I have worked with both, the Nortel and easier and more user friendly, but the BCM is just now catching up feature wise and with "all" that other systems can do. Really don't like either one as much as some others but hey they got the name recog. I think Avaya wants the base of the hospitals, Universities and want to grab them BEFORE Cisco does. I think it was a bad move from the Holding company of Avaya, but hey they are richer so what do I know LOL
