Man this is driving me crazy; I recently took on two customers each with Executone IDS 42’s.I'm more fimilure with Panasonic, Vodavi, Lucent,Comdial.I noticed this KSU is the same as a 6/12 Vodavi KSU but must have different soft ware.
I bought an E-bay IDS 42 for bench testing/programming before screwing up customers processor and tried coupling up digitally threw the RS 232 port but couldn’t connect using pins 2-2, 3-3, and 5-7 per mforrence tec note posted July 15, 2006 to my comp operating system windows 2000 w/ HyperTerminal as a communication program.
I then tried communicating threw the CO line port directly to the IDS42 modem using HyperTerminal dial up TR/Con 99 posted by JJ October 01, 2002 and got the processor to respond with running software version 42/84 8 on 11:42p Thu 10-18-07 and a bunch of Executone goop about only a knowledgeable tec should be trying to program in this fashion etc. etc.
In other words I was able to connect and the screen shows WELCOME TO THE SYSTEM 42 [ENTER PASSWORD] to select programming mode.
I couldn’t type any commands from my keyboard so I went and installed ProComm Plus hoping this would allow me to type commands. Also posted by JJ October 01, 2002. TV1920 term Emulation, 1200 baud, Xmodem, 8,n,1. The only keys that work are the Esc key and the End key. They just move the curser down and it asks for a ENTER PASSWORD again.I am able to type using key board using DOS Promt.
I’M USING A Netelligent 56K ISA fax Modem if that matters.
I can’t still type any commands and also don’t know a password. I bought the 600-page manual (very confusing especially for IBM comp type of programming) and it’s in a WinZip form so its difficult pulling what info I need.I've spent ten hrs so far going over manual.I'm now have spent five hrs on this modem type programming.
So basically I have two questions HOW DO I GET THE KEYBOARD TO TYPE COMMANDS AND HOW CAN I BREAK IN TO SURPASS EXISTING PASSWORD???. I don’t have access to a programming terminal as they suggest, all I have is my windows 2000 operating system and a telephone dial up. Modem to Modem.
I also found a PGM A floppy disk on customers site with some info on it but can’t seem to open it with any understandable program.
Sorry for getting too wordy but have no other way to explain my predicament.
