Hi,
I just purchased a new handset unit a Model 64 84600-40 for our IDS system at work and I'm having some issues with it. I can make and receive calls, and some of the buttons work but I cannot program anything. The "MENU" and "MORE" buttons dont work at all. I've put the phone into test mode and the buttons show that they are at least functional, I'm guessing its not programed? Or does the agent terminal or someone else need to allow my new phone access? Previously I was using a Model 28K 82100-2 and everything worked.
Can anybody help me, I can try to find out additional info about our system if needed but it you have any general theories please let me know.
Thanks.

If you aren't using a Medley system the Menu and More keys have no function.

Oh, I guess that makes sense.

If they don't work with IDS then how do I program the buttons on the phone? I have a user guide but it only give programming options by using the MENU and MORE keys.

You'll need to get in contact with your local Executone tech, there are also a couple of good techs floating around these board that may be willing to assist you remotely.

Basicly the IDS is programmed either through:
1) A programming terminal connected to one of the I/O ports on the MDF (that white board with a whole bunch of wires on the wall) or the I/O panel (a small black metallic box with 4 ports for music and 2 serial ports)

2) A PC emulating the dumb terminal and connected the same way

3) Via modem (if the option on the M screen of the IDS database is on)

The only programming accessible to end users on the IDS were the "station speed dials", "system speed dials" if you were an operator, and the different forwards dialed by key codes.
