Once upon a time, many years ago when I was in Milford for some IDS training, my instructor burned me a disk with the V2 E Docs technical manuals.
This ran great on my trusty ole laptop with Windows 98 (remember Windows 98?) but alas, all good things must come to an end.
Now that my old laptop is dead and gone, I find that E-Docs is asking for a password on my newer Windows XP machine. Just for grins I tried it on an old Windows 98 desktop I had laying around and it does work there.
Anybody have the solution to make it like XP as much as 98??

You are Not going to like the answer, But, This does work! You need to Downgrade to adobe 3.0 !!
Yep., But, then again, it might not be a problem...?I had it running on my pc running XP.

The issue is that the original CD had an install program - and you had to define where a particular file for Acrobat was located. Once you did that, it would work with later versions. I'm using with Acrobat reader 8 and it works fine... there was a Tech Fact that described the process.

Here is a tech fact I found.

Technical Resource Library and Acrobat Reader 4.0

Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 can be used to view the files on the Technical Resource Library CD. However, the library’s installation procedure does not automatically locate the Reader 4.0 PLUG_INS directory. To use the library with Acrobat Reader 4.0, install the CD as follows.
1. Make certain Acrobat Reader 4.0 is not running.
2. Insert the Technical Resource Library CD into your CD ROM drive.
3. From your desktop, click the Start button, and then click Run.
4. When the Run dialog box appears, type
(Your CD-ROM drive letter):\setup, for example, d:\setup.
5. Click OK. The installation program begins.
6. Follow the instructions on each screen until you get to the Choose Destination Location dialog box.

Good Luck
Walt

Whenever I try to run Mitel SX50 cd's on XP, it fails and then asks if I want XP to emulate some other OS. I pick W95 and away she goes! Don't know if you are getting that screen, if so, try 95 or 98. I have been pretty lucky with these new-fangled typewriters up to this past weekend, then I had to post in the computer thread. frown

To follow up on END's instructions - during the installation process it will tell you that you don't have Acrobat Reader 3.0 loaded. It further describes that you'll need to navigate to your Acrobat Reader's "plug_ins" folder (for example C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\Plug_ins).

Once this is done, complete the install process and it will work like a champ.

Key is that you MUST install, not just try and open the .pdf files from disk.
