I know I've posted about this previously. I really did intend to just let it die when it couldn't be resolved previously - but it seems I just can't. Really, this should be a simple feature so its just driving me nuts.
I've got a personalized recording with a mix of music and 'marketing' connected to the upper RCA port and I've got MOH set to '2' in the B screen. This works great for MOH. If I set bgm to '2' in the B screen, I can also play this recording on any extension by hitting the * key to toggle the recording.
I've got a stereo connected the lower RCA port playing a local classical music station and I've got bgm set to '1' in the B screen. This works great for bgm on all extensions BUT ONLY if I hit the * key on each extension individually. I can find no means of making it play system-wide. Of course, if I set MOH to '1' in the B screen I can have the radio station as my MOH, but only at the risk of a potential lawsuit for rebroadcasting without permission :-( .
So . . . back to the issue of bgm . . . how the heck do I get the bgm to play on all extensions via an operator key sequence???? I know it should be 8360 or 8361 (83 + page zone 1) b/c also in the B screen I have external page zone 1 shown as 61 with day = Y and night = Y but again, no dice.
thoughts?

I'm thinking, it Might only work thru an External Page zone? then again, I can't remember anymore(I really haven't worked on an IDS in over 5 years) But, wasn't there something In the Paging Zone itself(in programming)that you could toggle?
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

Appreciate the help noname!
In the B-screen, hitting 'E' will take me to the section for External Zone which has two lines.
[E]xternal Zone = 01 Page = 61 Day = Y ID Number = 01 Ring Type = 0 Night = Y
Currently, only External Zone 01 has a page number other than 00. All others show Page 00 with day/night = N, Ring Type = 0 and ID number = 01
There are 19 external zones available (I/D for increase/decrease cycle through them)
There are 704 ID numbers available (cycle with left/right arrow keys)
*Appears* to be 9 Ring Types (only allows entering a number with the keypad so only 1-9 seems to work)
Page *appears* to allow 00-99 (again, just key-in with number pad).

While working on this, I discovered that despite my settings for bgm and MOH, the bgm source 1(the upper RCA port) is playing for both the bgm and MOH, even though MOH is set to 2 in the B screen - ugh!

You can split the BGM and MOH but to get to play on stations you have to hit * at each station to make one of the sources come over the phone. Only common control is for operator to turn on over head page.
Working as designed.
Hope that helps

mc601 I know I *should* be able to split the bgm & MOH, and I *think* I have it set correctly in the B-screen, but it doesn't seem to be working.
On playing the bgm source over the stations, the option for background music at each station by hitting * works fine. But the User Guide for the Model 12/18/32 telephone Part Number 770318 on page 67 shows 'Background Music Over External Page" and then instructs that at the operator station, lift handset, wait for internal dial tone, then dial 83 + the desired 2-digit external zone number and notes that the zone number depends on your particular system. This is where I got the idea that bgm source could be played at all stations using the external page zones - I just can't get it to work :-(

BGM will not play over stations via the operator activation code to enable BGM over external page zones. If need help or remote support check my profile and email me.
Thank You mc601
