I need to hook up 10 ip phones throught he internet. I will be acting as a brnach. THe platform is Axxess. Can I use the Executive Display-550.4500 rather than the Executive Display-770.4500

Where did you find the 770.4500?
I've seen 550.4100 (older model) and 550.4500
I believe the 550.4500 is the latest model, but either should work fine.

I thought the same thing, but there is a 770.4500, I think it's Inter-tel's newest IP model, but I'm not sure.

The 770.4500 is the IP phone. This phone has a built in hub. You will notice that there are 2 RJ45 plugs on the top part of the phone. The IP phone gets its connection to the AXXESS system via an IP address through your network and or the internet. The 550.4500 is a digital phone that has 1 RJ11 plug on the top part of the phone, yes both of these phones look identical but operate completely different. You cant use the 550.4500 phone for the IP connection, and you cant take the IP phone (770.4500) and plug it in any axxess phone jack.

They have different part numbers on the online brochures or changed them.
Looks like you'd have to buy the IP Module to use an IP phone.
The softphone looks pretty sweet too.

So can I the 550.4500 instead of the 770.4500 ? I dont need the 2 rj45. Maybe there is a module I can get that will accept the digital phones then converts them to go over the internet.

If you're using these phones in the office where your axxess system is located, the 550.4500, or 4100 is the way to go.
If you want to use these phones from remote locations you'll need the 770.4500 phones and an IP Networking Module installed into your axxess system and the bandwidth to handle it.<HR>

O.K., first of all part number 835.2331 (I still dont know how you found this) is a part number for a piece of Inter-Tel Marketing Literature that describes the IP phone (770.4500). Inter-Tel has part numbers for EVERYTHING, even the form you fill out to take a day off has a part number. The IP phone was designed to work at a speed of 10mbps. Now the new IP phone (770.4600) can be either 10/100mbps. by upgrading the built in hub thats in the base of the phone. Anyways to answer the original question, no you cant use the 550.4500 instead of the IP phone if your connecting it through the internet or your network. Yes there are ways around this using additional equipment but to keep this topic simple the answer is NO.
