I am using a Premeir system. The Port that I am having problems with has a 24 BTN w/ LCD phone on it. I have tried multiple handsets and even swapped out a known good phone (same make and model) and still had the same problems. The people on the other end all say that it sounds like I am in a tunnel or not speaking directly into the handset (which I am). No other phones on my system are doing this.

A little while back I accidentally touched a toner to this port. It arced and had to be replaced. The repair was done by a professional and tested to make sure that the port (and the circutry on the card) were working OK. Everything seemed fine until about 2 weeks ago.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does this extension have a private line that it only uses? If so it might be the CO line. If this extension doesnt have a private line and uses all the lines to call out on like everyone else then you probably have a bad port. You already swapped out the equipment, wich is what I would do and that did not solve the problem. If you have a spare port, then switch this extension to it. I doubt its the cabling but if you have the tools bring the phone in the phone room and plug it directly to the port to bypass everything in between.
This is a common problem with the older premier phones and swapping out the handset 99.9% of the time fixes it. Remember that some phones require the dynamic handset and some require the elctret handset.
