Working with Eclipse ver 6, I need to have calls forwarded or transferred to an after hours answering service. I have 20 incoming C.O.s in a hunt group (not via T1). I'm having trouble with the system not dropping the line once the caller disconnects.

I set up a STAR and a CRA. In the CRA there are 3 choices for the caller. One choice is to press 3 to be routed to the night answering service outside the building. I set 3 to transfer to a phantom extension that I remotely forwarded all call to the outside number.

My problem is the call is not dropping after the call hangs up and then seems to following the timeout action, which is going to my phone temporarily. Is forwarding all calls the wrong way to do this? Is it possible to have the system, CRA, or the phantom station send the C.O. a hook-flash and digits in order to transfer the call instead of forwarding?

Thanks

Tony

Your right, the only way to forward a call outside the system is the way you have it. 2 things you can do. Have you checked the voltage on the C.O. line after the party has hung-up? Telco should send you a disconnect after the party has hung-up. A meter on the line would see if its happening. What your looking for is a half second or so of 0 voltage after the hang-up. That might be the problem. The second solution is to use a feature provided by the phone company called forwarding. Basically you would need this feature activated only on line 1 (main number). What you do is get on line 1 and dial the telco code to forward. This would take the call completely off your system. The only problem is the caller would never hear your auto attendant greeting because of the immediate forward. I would check the disconnect signal coming from the phone company, Ill bet thats the problem.

Sometimes reversing the polarity of the incoming line can fix this. By the way, A T1 connection would resolve this problem and is most likly cheaper (initial cost is usually repaid within a year).
