Is it possible to hook an answering machine up to this system? (its pretty old, the manual says 1985)
Also, does anyone know of a site to download a manual for the actual system? (more detailed than the owner's guide)

An answering machine will not plug inline with a GLX phone. You will need to have a jack installed that has Line 1 or whatever line you want answered for the answering machine to work.
If you find a manual online you will most likely have to pay for it. Intertel is really strict about vendors giving out there manuals.

You can put it before the GLX in line with the Telco Lines so that the phones would ring until the number of rings setting on the Answering Machine takes affect. The only problem with doing it this way is that you would need an answering machine for each line or a multi line answering machine. If you have multiple lines into your system you could use an APM (p/n 612.2300) port for the answering machine and make that ring with the other phones that ring. ------------------ www.mainresource.com

You can get the manuals by following the link below and, as stated above, there is no way to put an answering machine on the system. It would have to go on the CO before the system. ------------------ Intertel Telephone Repair Toshiba Telephone Repair

If this is a GLX then no you have to hook it up to a co line before the system, if it is a GLX Plus then yes you can hook it up to the system if you have the Single line card.
