What is the best way to install a door box /with strike plate on a cisco system.I have a customer with a Nec system with a door box /strike plate .They will be changing over to Cisco phone system .I know they could just put a phone out there or maybe a analog port of the cisco sytem ..but can you dial a code to activate the strike plate
I would appreciate any advice

Thanks

The easiest way to do this is with a Viking (C1000B)door controller and connect it to either a fxs or fxo port.

Mikeb- when you say fxs or fxo port do you mean an unused C.O. Port on the Cisco equipment. All they have are 8 analog extensions for fax machines .Can I use analog extension as long as I get the right door box E-20B and can this extension be programed as a ring down circiut to a group of phones
I was looking at the W2000A door box originally but I believe this requires an unused C.O. Port
I know I need the C-1000A I just want to get the right door box

This is a little weird for me because .I dont know the Cisco side .I am there current phone guy

Thanks

You can use either a trunk port or analog extension depending on what you have available in the Cisco equipment whether its Call Manager or CME. The best thing to do is speak with Viking tech support and they will tell you exactly which products will work with what you are using, they are very heplfull.
