Hey there...Anyone had any reports of static on 9212's when using the speakerphone? System has SIP trunks but problem goes away as soon as you pickup the handset...more than one station on the system experiencing the problem? Open area and quiet office both have same problem...not sure what's going on...Talked to the boy's at AW..got a basic huh? No reports of anything like that so far....Just thought maybe someone else has heard of it.....

Bob:
1. Check and make sure they don't have the speaker volume up too much. -10 to 0 to +10. Some people have it cranked up to +8. In some instances 0 is plenty.
2. If the speaker volume is OK, I'd swap out the phone. I have swapped out some 9212s under warranty. I'm wondering why you got the "Huh?" from AW. They should acknowledge that it's not common, but, at times, the speakers (or the circuitry for the speakers) or the MICS have been known to be bad. I don't recall ever knowing what precisely was the problem---just replaced them.
3. JFYI I use a 9212 phone here in the office. I have some real problems using the speakerphone---dialing out. Somehow, someway, the microphone picks up the DTMF tones and seems to screw up the dialing. I constantly get errors. When I put the MUTE on---there is no problem. I have concluded that these microphones are VERY, VERY sensitive. Now, this anomaly doesn't really bother me, because most of my outgoing calls are done with the Call Assistant.

I know what you mean about the volumme Mick..I'm now wondering if they are picking up "air conditioning" from the vents above the desks..The mic's are way to sensitive that's for sure..pick up everything in the room..I guess that's both good and bad in some cases...in this case appears to be bad. The guy at AW..said he would take a couple of 9212's and try to dupicate but we will see if that really happens..basically got the ole.."never heard of that before". We shall see if I get a call back.
Think I will go over there today and setup some call's and see if I can make it happen and try some different things to stop it.
