I depends a bit on which version of admin software you have copmpared to the version running on the CIX. If by CTX software you mean WinAdmin, then you may have a very difficult time doing anything, and it probably is not a good idea.
If you are running emanager version 4.X, then you would be fine if the CIX 40 was running a simmular version. If it is running something more recent like 5.10, then you may be able to make some changes, but would get some periodic error messages, and may be unable to make some changes.
Winadmin covers the CTX line up to version 2.22. This is the highest level on a CIX-28 (except a few of the last ones) Emanager came out at vesion 3.00, when they rebranded to CIX. Version 4.0 I beleive is the oldest version of CIX-40. Emanager ran up to version 5.10, thne came Netowrk Emanager. The latest CIX software is 5.20. Emanager version should be the same or higher then the CIX version. Emanager is backwards compatable with older versions.
