I have a question about connecting a dedicated fax line to a fax machine. I protect all lines with line protectors. However for some reason when I connect a line protector the fax can make out going calls but cant receive calls. Why is that? Do I neeed to use a differnt size protector?

No not yet. That was my next step. Just wanted to see if anyone knew the problem. Thinking I am using the wrong size protector or something. Thanks for the input.

Sounds like the DTK-S series protectors. One rated at 30 volts would work for a digital phone set but not for a CO line. I would use the ones rated for 130 volts to protect a fax line. What specific one are you trying to use?

Try turning Tip and Ring over.

1. Does a standard 2500-type set work properly on the line?
2. Does the fax machine work properly on a different line?
3. Does the fax machine work properly on the line, without the protector?
4. What do you hear in a telephone that has called the fax line? Ringing? Tripped ringing? Silence?
5. Are the settings on the fax machine programmed correctly?
