(MICS w/7.1 software). Not working on any line. Change it to ring 2-4, release out of programming and when I go back into the programming, its back to None.

Have you powered down and powered up, that would be a first step.
When you say ring 2-4, what do you mean? It either is either appear or appear and ring or ring or unassigned.
If it is supposed to ring on the voicemail then you assign the number of rings before it answers.

pts: You can only assign a D-Ring to one item. (otherwise it would not be distinctive) It could be that the numbers 2-4 may already be assigned somewhere else. Check Hunt Groups, Answer DN things like that.

If you set a line then the user changes set ring type then it will override and vice versa, test the theory to see if the issue.

That would be a lousy system if anyone could override another setting at will. If a line or hunt group has a D-ring set then it is not available for a set-ring. Although more than one set can have the same D-ring (if available).

NTlayoff - Defaulted a MICS with two phones on the system. Changed nothing on the extensions (distintive ring) and still if I change the DS on any line (only gives me choices 2-4) and after exiting programming and going back in, its back to None.

pts: Did you make sure that you hit next after changing the D-ring to a number that you want?
If you don't hit next it may not save it.

Also - It will give you only 2-4 because it is already at 1 and so are the phones.

----- From the manual 7.1: If the ring type is changed on a telephone after the DRPs are set on the line, the line DRPs are overwritten by the telephone settings. If the line DRPs are set after telephone programming, then the telephone ring programming is overridden by the DRP. Refer to the Modular ICS System Administrator Guide for details about setting ring types on a telephone. ------
However if the number is being used under a Line it wont let you choose it in F*7 anyway.
