Sure ... you need still need to be able to call people with regular phone lines... so you still need a carrier with a gateway to the PSTN which means you still have a phone bill.

So for anyone working for the city or "essential services", they couldn't communicate with those new fangle-dangled phones when they most needed it!

I don't know about your area, but if the local authorities couldn't communicate anytime there's a power blackout, that sounds pretty scary to me! I wonder if that's an issue in the areas effected by "Sandy". :dance:
