Customer has an existing page amp with input from the phone system and output to some horns in the shop area.

They are adding a waiting room area and will have a couple of ceiling speakers for background music.

I know I can use a zone adapter to choose which horns to page. Is there any way to use the same amp to have two inputs (page and music) going out to two zones (shop and waiting room)? They don't want pages in the waiting room, or music in the shop. Or will I have to go to two separate amps?

Thanks.
Jim

Bogen PCM 2000 system will let you create zones, specify which zones receive music or not, and page specific zones or groups or zones, or all zones. The music will mute in the waiting room when the page is being made, but the page will not come out over the speakers.

You should go with separate amps otherwise the music will have to mute while they page the shop.

Separate page/music amp for the waiting room is the clean and wise way to go. It's quite possible that the phone system already has 2 or more page zones built-in. What make/model system is the phone system?

Agreed, separate amps will be cleaner. The current setup is an old compact Norstar, about version 2, and a Bogen TU 35A amp.

Replacing key system with a BCM 50. Also adding a couple of Dukane 5A606 ceiling speakers.

Perhaps a Bogen TPU 60 is overkill for a couple of waiting room music speakers. Any suggestions for a small amp?

Thanks.

If it's just a speaker or two, the Valcom V-1020C self amplified speakers (Bogen has them also) and a VP-324 power supply would be another option. Only supply the BGM input to the speakers.

Thanks, Bob.

I have the Dukane speakers on hand. Left over from a previous job. I'd like to use them up if possible.

How many Dukane 5A607 speakers are we talking?

Look at https://www.toaelectronics.com/BG-200_Series_Mixer-Amplifiers.asp

Only two speakers. They are 5A606.

Looking for something economical for just two speakers. Not sure what the music source will be yet.

A small stereo receiver is all you need for the music. You could add a MP3 player or subscribe to a BGM service.
