Hello All,
I have an Mitel SX-200 phone system with numerous phones in use. One of our locations has an issue where they can't hear the phone ring at times due to their job function and in the past this was taken care of by using a Viking M2W Paging amp system (https://www.vikingelectronics.com/products/view_product.php?pid=185) with a horn speaker, very small amp, and pw plug. I was told that the phone would ring though the external speaker, but their conversation would not go through the external speaker. When I took this position this system had long stoped working and I believe that the phone (mitel superset 4025) had also been replaced since there was no wires exiting the phone to the little amp. I wanted to see if someone could confirm how this paging amp would connect to the phone. I am guessing that I can connect it audio input for the amp to the speaker on the phone to allow the ringer to go through the speaker and when they pick up the receiver the speaker would no longer have an input (which is good since I don't want them on "speaker phone" thourgh the amp). If this is the right way there really isnt much clearence at all for any connections...is there anyother way to do this such as connecting to the head set port on the back? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Tap the speaker feed and amplify it, that's all there is.

Another way would be to create an analog extension with the 4025 number, which requires a new number for the 4025. Then you can put a button with the analog number on the 4025 and use the analog port to drive a Viking PA2A. (Hey, I didn't say it would be cheaper!)

Yes, thats how a M2W works. Great for W/H phones, Any digital or slt w/ electronic ringer. At site of phone connect input to speaker leads, mount the little volume control and the speaker.
When phone not in use, rings via speaker. Phone used as normal except no monitor or speakerphone use. Pretty obvious to end user, if you go to phone and hit speaker, you get ICM tone over speaker, pickup handset and works as normal.
If speaker provides subdued OFF HOOK RING, you will get that too.
Sometimes the best way to get Page, All Page and flexible ringing to an area that is programable through switch.
