All, I'm putting this up as a new topic even though it's directly related to my original problem of my IPK system self-initializing. The problem was the time period on "System Refresh" After setting that to "none" the problem is solved.
Can anybody define for me why this function even exists?
Is there any harm in changing its default value of 4-hours to none?
Thanks, - Bill

Not sure either but all our Elite systems had this turned off as it used to cause problems with certain flavors of primary rate. Never had any problems with it turned off. I suspect it was a hang over from some earlier time when CPUs and memory were not as good and you had to flush things out at a regular basis.

It was pretty much always recommended to set this to none, from the default of 4 hours. It can cause a number of issues in the switch and voice mail, if there is one. If the system is defaulting the programming when it refreshes, it would suggest the battery is bad and not holding the programming intact.

I'm glad you brought this up - I have a test IPK system running at my desk - every 4 hours the system simply "appears" to reboot. At first I thought "defective system" - then I found this setting - I had absolutely no idea this was intentional and pretty much couldn't believe they would have something like this be an intentional feature - I don't know if it does this if the phone is in use, but the feature looks to be an extreme point of possible customer agitation..

It only resets after being idle for the set amount of time. At default that is 4 hours. If the system has activity on it, it will not reset automatically.

Just another bit of information about refresh. If it is left to the default of 4 hours, it will eventually "kill" the voice mail because it is not shut down properly when the system resets.
