Is this a question as to why it won't work or are you planning to get one and asking if it will? Your statement/question is a bit confusing.

I'm not sure what an 'XLink' is, but it if it is a device that provides industry-standard voltages, loop current, supervision and ringing protocols, then you should be just fine.

If my assumption is correct and this is just yet another VOIP gadget, then you'll also need to ensure that your line card is at least an 'E' version or higher or you might not get ringing. I'm assuming that you actually have a line card in the KSU for the third line.

Help us to help you with better information as to your question/comment.

OK, keep in mind that IF the C.O. (XLINK?) line is working AND correctly punched down in the 551, AND all other wiring in the KSU, AND the crossconnect, AND the phone is correct, THE LINE WILL BE THERE on T3/R3 in the phone. It's 1A2, that's the way they work! (Why do they make it SO hard????)

I use line 1 and line 2 to CO line 3 has never been used line 4 to front door and line 5 intercom found both t&r broken were connected to the 66 block in KSU repaired now have dial tone to the 2564 sets how ever the VX41 has no line light on L3 possibly my wiring to L3 in the KSU is wrong as I'm color blind and use the wife to decipher the colors. We will check the colors tonight after her school thanks

As I recall, there were 2 versions of the VX41 keystrip, early used 'slide-base' bulbs like 2564, etc. Late version used LED's. If you have an early version, maybe you have a burned out/missing bulb.

I believe a XLINK is a bluetooth mobile phone to POTS interface device. In other words, it's a "fake C.O. line" much like a VOIP device. It should work fine with a 400G or 400H linecard.

works fine with all the phones except the one vx41 in the office. If I have L and LG reversed on that phone on Line 3 will the bulb light. Also all the Line 3 lamps are slightly dim. When I unplug that office phone the remaining lamps through out the house return bright already changed the key-strip on the VX41 in question

If you have the lamp pair reversed, you will get the symptom you describe. When you unplug a device and the trouble clears, you are on the right path. Check the lamp pair again.
