My boss wants me to see about adding a central conference table-type speaker for conference calls. According to the owner's manual for our iDCS100 system, there can only be FIVE parties max. involved in a conference call. Our last conference call had about eight people all crowded around one 18D telephone set to 'speaker'. Is there any hardware available to facilitate this? From looking at a iDCS100 overview page which shows all the types of hardware which can be connected, I didn't see anything that would work. Also if there isn't any piece of hardware available, what's to keep me from putting a switched 3.5mm jack in one spare station which would select between the internal speaker or an external speaker? I guess I could have all the parties 'huddled' around two or three stations like the proverbial hobos around the fire. LOL

You can definitely add a conference unit like a Polycom etc to the system. You would need a single line port to do that unless you can find one that may interface through the handset of a digital keyset. The 5 party max conference limit is a mix of outside callers and inside extensions.Any combination up to 5.

You could add a Full Duplex module to the phone which will give you 2 - 3.5 jacks for external microphones, they are getting harder to come by though. Have a few customers using them no complaints.

Konftel makes a personal type unit that goes off the handset jack.

We use a free conference calling service here and it works great. www.MyFreeCC.com. No ads or anything either.

Well air is free, and water is free if you get it from the river, but how do these guys make money?

I don't know. They don't advertise themselves to the callers when you use them. Upsells I suppose. Kind of like the free business cards from Vistaprint?

We've used them at MyFreeCC for about 3 or 4 years now and it works great.
