Hi, I'm configuring a PRI setup on a 670. The customer wants to utilize the DID lines, so each user gets his/her own direct number. I'm a little confused on this and don't want to mess it up. Under DID I set up the dialing digits for the individual ext., but on the button side of it, should I use a GCO and assign that corresponding GCO under DID, or should I create a phantom button and use that for the dialing digits?
I guess I'm just not sure the best way to give the user a button to identify their private line.
Also, the users will all be in pool groups as well.
Thanks for any info. I'm a little out of my element with this PRI.

You could put the DN in there, or if they need their DID to ring on a specific button do the phantom thing, but either way I think you are on the right track.

I've always simply set it to the users PDN. Remember, they can get as many DID calls as they have buttons for... so most frequently, I have a single PDN, and just above it, a secondary phantom extension that is in circular hunt with the PDN.
I've never had a customer request that their incoming DID's be on a separate button so they can identify it...
If it was requested that way, I'd put it on a phantom button, but I'd have at least two of them in hunt, so that they can get more than one call at a time.

If I don't use a phantom button, would they be able to make outgoing calls using that line specifically? They'll probably use their pool group to make most outgoing calls, but I think they want the option to use that DID number for Caller ID purposes.

I meant to say PDN in my earlier post.
There is no "specific line" when it comes to a PRI and sending out a DID number as caller ID is a whole different bag of goods than what is being discussed here, BUT, which ever direction you go in in setting up these DID's may have an effect on how you set up your outbound caller ID.

You cannot call *out* on a DID... (Direct Inward Dialing). You can set up your PRI with ISDN CBC, with multiple OLG group, and set up a caller ID on each one of them... it's a pain. Toshiba FYI details it in article 1403.

Ok, I gotcha. So basically I'd have to set up a bazillion OLGs, one for each user that wants to have their DID show up on caller ID?

Yes... although there's also something where the same number would show up, plus the extention number (which doesn't require multiple OLG's) I've not used that, so I'm a little hazy on how to set that up. But I've got one customer with about 7 or 8 companies, and that's how many OLG's I have... so that each one can have -their- main number show up in caller ID. So I know it will work. By the way, the PRI provider has to set some option to allow Caller ID to come from the CIX... so you may have to work with the PRI carrier.
