I have an employee that has left the agency. I would like to re-assign his extension to someone else but there are voice messages remaining. Normally, I would use the phone to transfer each individual message but this guy has about 50 of them. I want to know if there is a way to transfer all the messages from his extension to another extension at one time.

Yeah, but it's ugly. Go into DB programming\system\cabinets. Change the port for the extension to "None". This leaves the mailbox in limbo. From here, you have a couple of choices. I do it in "Cabinets" because I'm already there. Find the extension you want to use in "Cabinets". Change it to "None". Then, change it back into a keyset and assign it the extension number of the original extension. You will then be asked if you want to associate the orphaned mailbox to that extension. Answer yes. Now you can change the extension of the replacement back to its original number. That has now moved the mailbox to the second extension. Go back to the cabinet for the first extension, change it to keyset, and assign the original extension number to it.

Not hard, not easy, just a painful work around.

I've tried copying mailboxes. All that did was copy the settings, not the actual messages.

Maybe this isn't an option for other reasons, but there is no reason why the person who is to be in charge of these messages can't check the existing messages from his current phone.

Another option could be to activate Level I Unified Messaging and just have all the messages sent to an email box as .wav files.

This won't delete the message or settings that are already on the second extension will it?

Well, for that to work, the second extension can't already have voicemail. I'm spoiled. I have unused extensions that I can play with. MacGyver's idea of using Unified Messenger is very good. If you have UM, try that first. You can then save/forward/delete messages to your heart's content.

BigTSmooth:

If you're using a Windows box for your AxxessoryTalk you will have 5 free Level I UM licenses. Break out your manual though. Inter-Tel didn't make it very user friendly to set up. It's not that it's that hard, it's just that they don't do a very good job of telling you everything at once that needs to be turned on.

I am still kind of new to Axxess programming, but I will give these options a shot.
