Have a doctors office still holding onto their 816+ and has 7 & 8 set for Analog and an answering machine in place for years. They decided they needed an announce only machine , no messages, so we found an AT&T 1856 that had that option. The old machines rang and answered flawlessly, but the new devices ring and do not answer. I can plug them directly to the line and they answer normally, but to the extension, they need to answer either of 2 lines(of course 1 call at a time) Any body have any ideas on adjusting the ring on the newer systems I can pick between intercom ring or co ring but dont know of anything for the prostar

I don't understand the problem. Is the 1856 not answering?

I still don't know if the 1856 is answering or not. If not the ring voltage may be too low. The ringing is square wave for sure, the same problem with putting a Polycom on a Samsung analog extension of a digital system like the DCS, 500, 100, etc.

Yes sorry for the late reply, It currently has 2 different models of AT&T answering machines on it now that work and answer. The office now wants announce only boxes( does not take or give option for a message to be left) These are the only ones I could still find that have announce only capability. Now that I have bought 2 of them they ring but DO NOT ANSWER, I can hook them direct to line and they answer. They want machine 1 to be able to answer line 1 & 2 (1 at a time) and machine 2 to answer 3&4 but these machines will not answer, they audibly ring out loud(it has a handset) but do not answer hooked to ports 7 & 8 and set for analog.
