Hello everyone...

I'm trying to get some call accounting reporting working (using an Inter-Tel Axxess 7.001 system with Inside Track 2.2). The problem I want to solve is how to retrieve raw SMDR data from the SMDR buffer. In Inside Track, when trying tp Program SMDR Databases and Get Data from the Buffer, the call record capture process looks like it's about to start but every time it finishes with 0 records processed and 0 captured lines.

Can anyone tell me what are the settings I should check? This used to work, but it's been a long time since then and I know changes have been made to the setup (including moving the physical location of the PBX device).

The System\Maintenance\SMDR\Output Port is set to PP101 (which is serial port #2 on the CPU where my RS-232 connection to the programming PC is connected), and the "SMDR Output Active" is set to 'Yes'. These had been set to 'NONE' and 'No', but changing them didn't make a difference.

Also, in System\Cabinets\Sockets the SMDR item has Enabled set to 'Yes' (although this item shows a red-X through it, and I don't know why).

In Voice Processor\SMDR Buffer, these are the settings:
SMDR Buffer Size (MB) = 5
SMDR-Buffer_box Bit Rate = 9600
Enable SMDR Buffering = Yes

Thanks for any ideas you can give me...

Mike

Have a site with Inside track that is set up exactly as you have it - I just went in and checked the settings. If I recall, the problem I had there was with the cable connection to pull the data from the buffer. I believe that I needed the same end you would use for DB serial programming on one end and something with a gender bender on the voicemail side. If I recall, Inside Track acted like it was pulling data, but I never got anything until I got the correct connection. With a serial connection, the sockets shouldn't do anything to help or hurt your project. Good luck.

Thanks for putting us on the right track. I was confused about why the DB programming connection was communicating OK but not the call accounting software using the same serial link. Thinking about making sure the cable connection was right eventually led to rechecking the communication settings for Buffer and for RS-232 in Inside track, and they didn't match. We set them to 9600-7-E-1-Xon/Xoff and did get a few call records coming through at the next attempts to Get Data from the RS-232 connection, but not the entire buffer like we expected.
