I have an existing user who will be working offsite. We have obtained and configured an IP phone for the user while she was still working in-house, and all we need to do is swap her existing extension to the new IP phone.

When I try to swap the extensions using an admin phone, I get a "conflicting extension" error. I also tried using the attendant console to swap them, but it tells me the swap failed.

Any thoughts?

You can't swap between non-like devices. Inter-Tel should change their code to allow IP to TDM swaps though. Oh well. What s/w ver. is yer PBX?

Swap extensions feature only works w/like extensions (examples digital to digital, analog to analog,Ip endpoint to Ip endpoint). With this being said the simplest solution would be to set the existing ext to none under cabinet configuration then to set the Ip phones ext # to be the the ext of the digital set you set to none (make sure that there is no associated mailbox with the IP phone)For example ext 1500 I set to none then I change the Ip phone ext # to 1500 the Axxess will then ask you if you would like to associate w matching voicemailbox select OK. If the digital port is still needed recreate the staion with new ext #. problem should be resolved

The older firmware allowed you to swap IP Phones with digital, but you programmed the card as a DKSC 16 instead of an IPRC. The newer firmware I believe is only compatible with 8.0 and up, but the older firmware still works on the new versions, but the downside is the card is limited to 16 devices instead of 32... and it's slightly more difficult to program.

Thanks for the feedback. That's pretty much what I had assumed, although the Inter-tel rep I spoke to when we got the phone said otherwise.

I think RiosWolf's steps will be the easiest to do at this point. Thanks again!
